Spray Tan Instructions
Proper preparation is imperative to a flawless spray tan. Please reference our mandatory instructions below before booking your spray tan appointment.
Instructions
Preparation and Aftercare
Preparation and aftercare are the make or break to a perfect faux glow.
Pre-preparation
1-3 Days Prior
In the days leading up to your tan begin exfoliating your skin during each shower or bath.
Spend a little extra time on knees, elbows, feet and any areas dry skin accumulates.
We recommend using exfoliating gloves for optimal results.
If you are removing a previous spray tan, apply oil prior to bathing to soften your skin and aid in removal.
Begin applying oil-free moisturizer a minimum of twice a day. Hydrated skin is key to a successful spray tan.
Any body hair removal should be completed at a minimum of 24 hours in advance. This allows your pores to close.
All hair and nail appointments should be scheduled prior to your tan.
Preparation
Night Before or Same Day
The night before or day of your tan shower and exfoliate your entire body thoroughly.
Spend a little extra time on knees, elbows, feet and any areas dry skin accumulates.
We recommend using exfoliating gloves for optimal results.
Any body hair removal should be completed at a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
This allows your pores to close, reducing the chance of solution collecting in them and the appearance of dark pores.
If you must shave closer to your tan, a cold rinse after your shower may aid in closing the pores.
Do NOT apply moisturizers, deodorants, antiperspirants, oils, or makeup to your skin after you shower.
These products can create a barrier, preventing the absorption of the tanning solution and effecting the tan development.
We provide makeup remover for your convenience.
Nude is normal or you may choose to wear a dark snug fitting garment to tan in.
Any tan lines created will remain for the life of the tan.
Consider your clothing and activities for up to 14 days when deciding on tan lines.
We provide disposable g-strings for your convenience.
The solution washes out of most clothing very easily, but may stain light colored synthetic materials.
Wear dark loose fitting clothing and loose shoes after your appointment.
Do not wear light colored or tight fitting clothing.
We recommend clothing that provides full coverage to protect your developing tan from weather, kids, pets, and unexpected mishaps.
Aftercare
After the Tan
Rapid Development and Ultra Dark tans, we will advise you individually on when to shower. Our general recommendations are:
Rapid-Light - 2 hours
Rapid-Medium - 4 hours
Rapid-Dark - 6 hours
Ultra Dark - 8-12 hours
Bronze Organics and Perfectly Clear tans, wait 12 hours before showering.
Before your first shower DO NOT:
Get wet
Sweat
Swim
Apply any products
Wear light colored or tight fitting clothing
Sit with your skin directly on light colored leather or fabric seats
Your first shower should be a rinse only.
The cosmetic bronzer in the solution will rinse off.
Rinse each part of your body until the water runs clear.
If you see streaks or uneven patches, rinse again. This is just bronzer that's been left on.
Moisturize using oil-free lotion.
Prolong
Prolong your Tan
Moisturize twice a day with oil-free lotion, after you shower or get wet and again before bed.
Avoid oil products.
Pat your skin dry and avoid exfoliation.
Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated. Dehydration will ruin your spray tan.
Always wear extra protection in the sun.
Chlorine and salt water may dry your skin and cause your sunless tan to fade faster.
Avoid long exposure to water, hot baths and hot tubs.
